Week 43 - New Bishopric

So this week was pretty average we hit the streets quite a bit, got some #s actually met with  some of these people to share a message it was all pretty normal, then Sunday came and there were a lot of crazy things that happened.

To start off last week on Sunday the Bishopric said there was going to be a special meeting this week and the Stake Presidency was coming, and I thought oh cool we"ll have Ward Conference and didn't think much of it. Then Sunday morning we were just chilling in the entrance welcoming people and you know in movies when there is a group of people walking in slow motion and there is some epic music?? Well that what I thought of when I saw the Stake Presidency, and most of the High Council walking down the street towards the chapel. Well it turns out that the Tuen Mun ward got a new bishop yesterday, and now the former Elders Quorum President Brother Yu is now Bishop Yu, and I was super excited because I love that man, and he is so powerful!! He is by far the most dedicated member toward missionary work, so I am super excited to work even more with him!

Then right after church our investigator A Fung got baptized!! so his situation is his mom is a member and she didn't think he could get baptized because he was some mental problems, and a lot of the members thought we were wasting our time teaching him over the last 7ish months, but i have honestly say that i have seen him change over that period of time. He went from I don't want to meet with the missionaries to fully participating in lessons and talking to us after. I have never seen a bigger smile on his face or his moms face before. When he talked a little bit after he was baptized he was just like i don't know what to say other than I'm super happy right now. it has been really cool seeing him change since day 1. (So things got really complicated after this. In Hong Kong people are baptized on Sunday after church, and are confirmed the following Sunday. However, in between Sundays, A-Fung had a mental breakdown at his care facility place, and they decided to check him into the mental hospital. He ended up staying there until after i left. The following Sunday in elders quorum Bishop Yu brought up the A-Fung situation, and some members shared their disapproval of him ever being confirmed. Me and Elder Smith were furious but held everything in and Talked to the bishop later about our personal opinions. Anyways after I left he eventually checkout of the hospital and came to church occasionally but had a couple of breakdowns there too, and some certain members don't want him coming to church anymore.

Then right after that we went to a members house for dinner and she invited her friends Chris from Africa to eat with us.

So during sacrament we didn't have time to meet Chris so the CPB elder taught the restoration and they accepted it very well and had a lot of good questions. than after dinner we taught about the Book of Mormon and how it supports the bible. the member shared a verse and Chris was like hey that reminds me of a verse in the bible, and we were like yeah like i said they support each other and he was like i understand now!!! So he is super cool and we are glad our member that doesn't know English some how got a hold of him haha. (Chris eventually stopped meeting with missionaries, but his friend Anthony who came to lessons with him eventually got baptized shortly before i came home!)

love you all and talk to you next week!!
