Week 91 - I got pooped on by a bird

Not a whole lot of stuff happening right now, but this week we were able to meet with a couple new people this week. 1 is named April who is one of the moms from our English class. We were able to answer some of the basic questions about our church, and kind of explain what we do as missionaries and share a little about our message to the world. We had a very good fellowshipper and I think some she might have some solid potential!

Last night we also were able to meet with a new guy. He was pretty interesting we scheduled him last night at the pier and we ended up meeting with him in a pretty poor lit area haha. Nothing happened haha but weirdest part was as I was talking a bird pooped on me.... yeah that wasn't really cool... ( 3 years later finishing the story. I think the guys name was "Uncle Harry", but Elder Davis sat next to him and apparently the dude was super touchy with him and Elder Davis went off about how creepy it was. I didn't notice it, so the next time we met with him I sat next to him. He was the same and i was extremely creeped out as well. He was extremely sketchy and always talked about hooking us up with Chinese girls haha. So we dropped all contact and ignored all of his phone calls actually he called us all the time, but i would always say wrong number and hang up haha. After Elder Davis went home, i walked passed him on the Ma On Chan board walk with Elder Newbold and Dickens. They had never men him, but I had a mini panic attack haha. He didn't say anything, but did give me the "death stare! Then a month or 2 later we were teaching a lesson in the park with the super anti material guy Jackie and Uncle Harry walked by. I told my comp real fast who he was, and Uncle Harry turned around and yelled "EVESON WHY YOU NO ANSWER MY CALLS!" I panicked and said "oh sorry we got a new number!" We actually had 2 phones at the time and I tried to talk my way out of it! I was really scared but he just walked away extremely pissed but did leave a very creepy joker type laugh when he left!

Also last Tuesday we had our monthly meeting with the Stake President to discuss the situation within the zone, and President Cheung is pretty cool! He is actually the uncle of my good friend Elder Chee from the MTC! It was a good meeting and had a good discussion on how we can further the work within the zone!

ummmm that's about all that happened this week love yall! I get to go to the temple on Wednesday!

My study chair is really old and finally broke this week, so I've been doing studies on a stool for the last week

We had some swords in the apartment so we all squeezed into the 1 room with a mirror to take some photos!

Week 90 - Zone Conference

Wow another week down in the Hong Kong! Not a whole lot happened this week other than we had zone conference this last week. I also had the chance to conduct the meeting, and was able to have a nice casual conversation on the stand with President Lam before it started. I was told by my comp Elder Davis last Monday that President Lam was on the Stanford bowling team back in the day, and he told me his high score was a 289. I also asked him how his bowling game is now and he said really bad he has a bummed knee so he can't plant  it anywhere. I told him he could go the old granny style and just stand there and roll the ball, and he would probably still beat all us Elders (I also mentioned he would beat us with his left hand granny style) and his answer was a classic he said "of course I would beat you that's easy haha!" ahhh good times gotta love that man!

Our zone did a training on teaching skills and we divided everyone into 4 groups and we did little speed training then rotated. My topic was teach people to their needs, and I used Elder Wong of the 70's cup training and let's just say some Elders got pretty wet! It was a lot of fun and I think the younger missionaries learned a lot!

ummm I was able to visit the Tung family this week they are pretty cool! Mine and Elder Riley's companions were both sick so that's why we were on exchanges that day.

Other than that not alot has happened this week.  I'm still trying to get to know the members and working on finding some people to teach!

love yall!

Week 89 - "I'm a so called Scholar"

The only reason I chose that title was because I had lunch with a member in my new ward  and he well is extremely humble and I was asking him how about how he is like a Chinese literature critic and well that was his answer, and I laughed pretty hard haha!

So this last week I moved up north to Ma On Shan in Tolo Harbor now and honestly the missionary work is kind of struggling. So hopefully now that we all adjusted to the new surrounding this week we can get to work, yeah let's see how this works out, but I'm excited to see how we can further the work here!

As for the week my last couple of days we visited a lot of members and I was able to say bye to a lot of our investigators as well. It's always hard but I have trust in my good now former companion Elder Frey to keep up the work in Ngau Tau Kok.

This last Saturday  we got to visit a good family friend as well for dinner and that was pretty fun, and on Sunday I got to meet a lot of the members in my new ward! Not a lot of other stuff that has really happened, but I'm excited and its time to finish the mission strong!

Snap I forgot to introduce my new companion his name is Elder Davis and is from Salt Lake area and has been in the fields for about 5 months now!

Week 88 - On the Move

Well my 10 months in Ngau Tau Kwok have officially come to an end. Last night I got move calls and I will be moving to Ma On Shan! I swear I cant get away from friends and family here in Hong Kong! I served in my grandmas stake for 10 months, and now I'm moving to a ward where it just happens to be like 10 people who are like best buds with my mom haha. So it should be fun. I will be replacing my MTC companion Elder Cobabe up there, and will be with his trainee Elder Davis. I will also be the Zone Leader up in the Tolo Harbor Zone!

For this week it was pretty good. We had MLC (Missionary Leader Class) on Tuesday which is great as usual, but right after it ended, we got the news that President Monson passed away during the meeting. After the news President Lam (HK Mission President) bore his testimony of living prophets, and we sang "We Thank Thee O God for a Prophet". It was a super spiritual experience and the spirit was felt so strong during those couple of minutes. I really am grateful no matter what happens we will always have a prophet on the earth to lead and guide this church.

As for as the work its coming along. When we split the area 3 months ago we had 1 investigator and right now we have 5 solid ones which is a miracle itself, but after I leave I will continue to pray for these people because they all have very strong interest in the gospel!

Yeah that's about it love you all!

Week 87 - Merry Christmas

Another great week in the Hong Kong!!! This last week we had our Zone Christmas party and that was a lot of fun and had some pretty good food as well! Me and Elder Frey decided to give the turkey a shot, so we made the turkey for the entire zone and for some reason people actually said it was good! So I guess I can call that a success! At the party we had a white elephant gift exchange thingy and there were some pretty good gifts and pretty pathetic ones as well. The worst was some athletes foot spray and a sister got it and was not very pleased!! So once again it was a lot of fun!

Honestly other than that not a lot happened, people are always busy during Christmas time so we didn't teach as many lessons as usual, so I guess everything is about the same when it comes to investigators.

Yesterday we got to visit a member for Christmas which was a lot of fun, but other than that not a whole lot of stuff to talk about this week.

I guess it was nice to talk to the family bam as well! The next Skype day is Mother's day May 13! I'm coming home May 18 haha just thought that was a little funny!

well love y'all and merry Christmas!!

Week 86 - 5 Months Left

Well I don't have alot of time today but this was a good week. I did finally get my release date for May 18 which is kind of crazy that there' is only 5 months left..

Well this week was alot of fun. On Thursday we had Zone Conference which was great as always, but this time I had to help give a training in front of like 60 missionaries. It was pretty scary, but I thought it went pretty good. Our Zone Leaderships topic was "You are what you eat" and the focus was on feasting on the words of Christ which is found in 2 Nephi 31 20. Our invitation was to have everyone one study the life and teaching of Jesus Christ and try to apply it in their own life, and also into their teaching, so I thought it was pretty good.

On Friday we had our ward Christmas party which was fun as always, and on Saturday we had an English class which included 2 pinatas of course. The funniest part was after all the kids had gotten their turns hitting the pinata it still was going strong so we called over a member and she destroyed it and the candy went flying! Yeah it was pretty fun.

This week has also been good finding. We got 2 new investigator this week, and the work seems to be moving forward!

Love yall and have a great week!

Week 85 - MLC

Well this was a pretty fun week here in Hong Kong. A couple of cool and interesting things happened this week. Well let's start off with the good stuff. On Wednesday we had MLC (Mission Leader Conference) and that was a lot of fun we got into a big discussion on obedience and also on are we doing what Elder Evens taught us 1.5 months ago by talking to everyone and asking 100% for referrals. When I looked back at myself, no I didn't do that especially on the subway standing next to thousands of people on a single train. That's something I've become motivated to do better at, and even though I haven't been able to receive any numbers on the trains I have talked to several pretty cool people on the trains. Also during MLC we had a nice surprise, one of my last companions Elder Smith (now Calvin) was in Hong Kong for 1 day and I ran into him in Kowloon and I was super excited! Then that night I had a missionary meeting with the Stake President to discuss the status of the zone with him and that was also pretty fun. I said some things I didn't even know I can say! I had to lead most of the meeting because my ZL (Zone Leader) companion Elder Taylor has been here this area for a week haha. He was super stressed out!

On Thursday things got pretty interesting. Me and Elder Frey witnessed a mugging and a old man getting beat up by a couple of thugs, and even though hundreds of people saw it we were like the 1 of 3 people who waited to talk to the police, so I was interviewed for like a hour in Chinese about what happened! Yeah that was pretty stressful but I can check that off the bucket list!

On Saturday the Zone sang Christmas songs in a mall and that was a lot of fun. The best part was people actually thought we were good haha! Then Sunday was also pretty interesting we met with a new guy who turns out to be completely nuts we met his 4 personalities haha. That was also a experience to remember haha.

Well that's it, love y'all!
